Jacoba Atlas

Jacoba Atlas is an Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning writer and producer, with extensive experience as a broadcast executive at NBC News, Turner Broadcasting, CNN, and PBS. Currently, she is President of Creative Visions Productions, a multimedia company whose mission is to use media to inform, engage, and inspire. Additionally, Jacoba, as writer and producer, collaborates with Tavis Smiley on documentaries and specials.  As a filmmaker and broadcast executive, Jacoba has extensive background in writing, directing, and production. She was a Senior Vice President for content at PBS, overseeing the national schedule. More than 30 Emmys were awarded to PBS programs during her tenure. Prior to joining PBS, Jacoba was a Vice President and writer and producer with CNN and Turner Broadcasting. As a founding partner of Vu Productions, with Emmy winner Gary David Goldberg, Jacoba wrote and produced a slate of documentaries. Jacoba began her broadcast career at NBC news, including five years as Senior Producer of TODAY. She is the author of the novel “Palace of Light”, which was published by Dutton. Jacoba did her undergraduate work at U.C. Berkeley and earned an MFA from UCLA.
